Hi Mark, this is a great way to use up canned green beans, I agree with you. Easy, cheap and tasty. However, can I ask you what sort of platform newsbreak is? I never used it before but as I went through the comments people seemed kinda judgemental and rude... which is weird because usually Foodie communities are quite supportive, even on Twitter! Good job on the many views though 👌
I started on NewsBreak by writing reviews around town. When they started the video program I was accepted. At first it was great then things changed. The people became more rude as you can see. They also wanted me to cut my video’s down to 2-3 minutes. I can’t even get into a video in that amount of time. So that’s why substack. NEwsBreak is an app where you can write or video about local happenings. Although they aren’t great at paying. I’ve had a lot of issues with the way they pay on the metrics. I don’t make enough to pay for the food in the videos most times. I did at the beginning, but then the metrics changed. I believe it all has to do with making money. Creators were making good money until the change.
I see! Then I say keep making recipe videos that piss (ignorant) people off, it seems to work well with visualizations, just don't read the comments 😉😆
I think there’s a need for videos that show what you can do with what you have at home. Not everyone can afford to go our daily or in some cases weekly to get food. What they have is everything and they should know what they can do with what they have. I want to do the podcast that way also. Letting people hear what I’m thinking of doing for breakfast, lunch, or dinner with what I have. Then a video of the process. I’m also going to start a cook-a-long once or twice a month live.
You're absolutely right, food deserts are a common issue in so many places and can have huge impacts on people' lives. A lady I met on Twitter, for example, runs a program in Birmingham UK aimed specifically at supporting communities that don't have immediate access to supermarkets and fresh food. They bring them a truck loaded with all kind of stuff and distribute electric cookers that are easy to use, energy efficient when compared to stoves and ovens, and even give them recipes to help them figure out how to use the produce. I appreciate your content and can see the value in it, keep going, you'll find your crowd 💪
That’s the issue. Those comments can get to a person. I have thick skin from living and working on NYC, but when it comes to cooking I don’t see the need to be rude. Suggestions are welcome.
This might sound controversial but hear me out: shredded unsweetened coconut with fresh green beans. It's a classic South Indian recipe.

That sounds good. I’ll try it next time I cook beans which will be this weekend.

By the way Sinù for the kind words and support. I’ll be doing all of my work on Substack from this point not.
