When unsure what to make for dinner, why not go shopping in the pantry, fridge, and freezer? That's what I did today to figure out dinner for tonight.
I started in the freezer, looking at the options on hand. Nothing stood out that would be easy to make. Of course, not everything was frozen and would take time to defrost, especially if you left the food on the counter instead of using water.
Not that I couldn't have done the water technique, but I wasn't in the mood to deal with water, frozen food, and the after-effects of the mess I would make, knowing me.
So I went to the backup solution, the fridge. I started in the veggie drawers looking for something to. make for a salad. Cucumber, celery, and tomato will work for a quick salad.
Next up, the lunch meat and other meats are in the drawer. I found apple chicken sausage that would go well with potatoes if we have any.
Next up, find the potatoes I need to make this meal come together, so go to the potato rack to see if we have some decent potatoes for the meal I plan.
Bam! There we go, just enough potatoes to finish off the meal. But, one last thing before I quit with the menu. I need a cooked veggie for Patti and our granddaughter Addi who likes cooked veggies; I think more than a semi-salad. Green beans will do. Not fresh, of course, since we haven't hit the market this week, so it's canned, and I'll have to doctor them up a little.
Now I have to put this all together to serve this evening. I'll be back!
Here are the tools to put this thing together. Not the coffee pot though.
Okay, I'm back, and the salad is ready to eat. It's in the fridge, staying cool as a cucumber.
I'm going to be frying the potatoes, and I would like them to get crispy as I fry them up, so I washed them in water to remove the starch in them, and I'll add a little baking powder just before frying them up. I'll use olive oil and salt, and lemon pepper for flavoring.
So the potatoes are in the pan frying up, and the chicken apple sausage is chopped up and ready to go. Now it's up to the chef, me, to fry them just right.
And dinner is served.
Spices Used:
Salt
Lemon Pepper

You could add onions.
You could use Italian Sausage
It’s all about you and what you have in your pantry without going out.
Buon Appetito!
