Steak On The Menu
A mouth watering meal
Ciao Friends!
Today I want to write about the steak dinner Patti and I had the other night.
It wasn’t a special steak or special occasion. We just happened to be shopping at the grocery store and noticed a good deal.
So we went ahead and bought a two pack of ribeyes, and received the we don two pack for free, or so they say.
These were great looking steak and they deserved a good cook. The best cook would be on the grill, but it was still a trifle hot in Clovis/Fresno to be cooking outside so inside they came.
I went to my trusty cast iron frying pan. No non-stick for these two guys. They needed everything a cast iron pan could offer, not even carbon steel could match my cast iron pan.

I placed the pan on the burner and as it started to come to temp I added olive oil and a huge slab of butter.
The steaks were already marinated in a little olive oil, salt, pepper, a dash of granulated garlic (more fresh garlic was coming in the pan) and finally a dash of rosemary dried flakes.
We threw in some corn on the cob just to add to the meal as well as a ripe tomato salad full of celery, cucumbers and perfectly ripe roma tomatoes.
It was finally time to throw on the steaks. The pan was heated to the right temp to get that sizzle as I placed them in the pan. The two steaks fit perfectly.
I add about 4 cloves of garlic and a little more rosemary dried seasoning to the fray and off to the races we went.
It didn’t take long to cook the steaks to the medium rare we both enjoy and I would say in about 10-15 minutes the steaks were ready.
Just before taking them out of the pan I added a drizzle of Worcestershire sauce on each side and out they came, ready and waiting to be enjoyed.
We didn’t have wine that evening, but we thought of having a beer, a Stella Ratois, but then went with just bottled water. Nothing special with the water either. It’s just our tap water is horrible.
Anyway it was a great night. The steaks were perfectly medium rare with just the right amount of juices coming out of them.
Tomato salad was fresh and cold, the corn sweet, juicy and hot and the company as fantastic.
Buon Appetito!
Mark & Patti
