Ciao Amici (Hi Friends)
(from last weekend)
I wanted to take a moment to write about my bread-making process.
While I am not a professional baker, I have been baking bread since I was six, when I learned from my grandmother, who I feel was the best, even to this day.
While I admit I'm prejudiced, I know I was taught a unique way of making bread that tastes great because of the love that was put into baking it.
Whether baking or cooking, my grandmother and grandfather believe that food tastes better when you love what you are doing. That's what has kept me cooking and loving it all these years.
I'm turning 70 in June, and I think mainly about the skills I learned from my grandparents regarding baking and cooking.
So here I am writing about the bread I made the past two weekends. I didn't make a video because it had been a while since I baked due to surgery, so I wanted to ensure things were still good with me. They were.
I plan to produce a video or two in the next few days. Don't expect precise measurements as most bakers require or suggest. My measurements are taken with my eyes, nose, and hands. So accept my system and use it if you want. It works for me.
Buon Appetito!
