A Little Something Special for the Holidays

My memories of my Nona making some homemade liqueur

Happy Holidays Friends!

I decided to do something special after our daughter surprised me with something I completely forgot.

Some months ago, I asked her to get together whatever she needed to make me some anisette cookies. So she ordered some Anise Stars from Amazon and proceeded to make a concoction of vodka and anise stars which, as I stated, I had forgotten about.

The other day she handed me a jar of the finished product. The smell brought back memories of my childhood growing up in Catania, Sicily. Then, at this time of year, my Nona was busy making multiple flavors of liqueurs to give as gifts to friends in the village as Christmas gifts.

That’s my hometown of Catania at Christmas below!

The one she and my Papa, made the most was anisette or Sambuca. I have to admit that was my favorite and always will be; the smell of the anise flooding the house was fantastic.

So this video, even with the mistakes I made, is dedicated to her and my Papa. Thanks for all the memories; I love and miss you both very much!

Buon Natalie!
