Yes! Even with newsletters, there's housekeeping to do every so often, and within the last few weeks, we have lots to tell you.
I was contacted recently by a PR Firm representing OVO Vodka and asking if I would be interested in learning more about it and featuring it in our newsletters. They included DelPaggio's Cucina and California Mishegoss.
After speaking with Jon Dunnington and learning about the beginnings and ongoing operations of OVO Vodka, we felt it would be a great collaboration, especially with some vodka-inspired food recipes.
From Their Website:
"Each drop purchased goes towards cleaning up the world's oceans by removing harmful plastics, one drink at a time. Working towards creating new industry standards and ending damaging cycles, OVO is dedicated to disrupting the industry by making some of the best-tasting vodka and leaving the world better than we found it."
"Did you know Americans use 70 million plastic bottles every day? The plastic crisis is one of the greatest challenges facing planet Earth. For every bottle of our ultra-premium OVO Vodka purchased, you're responsible for removing the equivalent of 18 plastic bottles from our oceans. That averages 1 plastic bottle removed for every shot."
OVO is teaming up with Clear Blue Oceans from San Diego to make this happen. Check out both at the highlighted links above.
2. MYKA
What would a chef or home cook be without their recipes? That's where MYKA comes in, also known as My Kitchen Assistant.
Again we were approached by the PR Firm representing app makers Brent and Natalie, who felt there was a better way to keep recipes handy. Their great thinking turned into an app called MYKA.
From Their Website:
"It was inspired by travel…and the inability to.
Our globetrotting adventures tasting all manner of international cuisines were what ignited our passion for food – what we consider our love language.
Yet when the pandemic hit, the global shutdown forced everyone to cook at home, and this meant trying to recreate dishes from our travels while struggling to document recipes.
Then it hit us:
‘What if there was a way to spell the end of greasy phones, illegible notes, memory dependence and endless scrolling back and forth between an ingredient list and steps?’
And so Myka was born. Our voice-enabled recipe builder makes it effortless for you to experiment with, record and edit your own
recipes.
Cooking should be fun and by digitizing your personal recipes we hope you will tap into your talents while inspiring your friends, family and others with your tasty recipes."
MYKA will be featured in all our cooking videos, recorded and live, from this point on. I've been using the app for a couple of months now, and while I'm still on a learning curve only due to my way of handling recipes, I have already seen so many great uses for the app. That's why it is here in our newsletter and is highly recommended.
You can find MYKA in the app store and learn much more by watching us use it in our videos. Or maybe I should say how not to use it since I'm still learning.
3. Safe Catch
Once again, we were contacted by Safe Catch's PR Firm and asked if we would be interested in checking them out since we were doing several tuna recipes.
Since we love tuna, we felt this would be a win-win for each of us, so we are happy to announce our collaboration with Safe Catch Tuna.
From Their Website: :
"Our tuna is traceable from catch to can and we only buy from captains whose fish come from managed and sustainable tuna stocks. Read more about our Sustainability Policy and Socially Responsible Sourcing Policy.
Using our proprietary technology, we are able to test every single fish for its mercury content. If it doesn’t meet our purity standards we don’t buy it. It still may be a good tuna, but it’s not a Safe Catch tuna."
Our limit for Safe Catch Elite Wild Tuna is ten times (10x) stricter than the FDA mercury action limit.
Our limit for Safe Catch Wild Albacore Tuna is two and a half times (2.5x) stricter than the FDA mercury action limit.
There's much more to learn about Safe Catch Tuna, and we suggest clicking on the link and checking out their website.
For now, you can tune into our new section, The Tuna Fish Chronicles, to watch how we use Safe Catch tuna in our recipes.
You’ll be reading, and seeing more and more about these great products and our cooking with them. We’re looking forward to introducing you to these great products and hope you’ll give them a try.
Be Well! Stay Safe!
Buon Appetito!
